lady用法
lady可以用作名词
lady可表示“女士,夫人,小姐”,也可指“举止文雅的女子,淑女”,是正式和礼貌用语,也是演讲或祝酒词的称呼语,以示尊敬,是可数名词 。与其对应的阳性名词是gentleman,有男有女时,一般说ladies and gentlemen 。
lady也可表示“女侯爵,女伯爵,爵士夫人”,是对英国拥有某些爵位的贵族妻女的尊称,后面常接“姓”之类的名词,和lady构成专有名词,这时大写Lady 。
lady还可作“女主人,主妇”解,但只限于lady of the house一语中 。
